A Sunday Stroll through El Casco

If there is one thing that Panama City has, is that the opportunities to stumble upon art and culture can be found around every corner. The options to go out on a weekend and enjoy some educational, family quality time are endless.

The best thing about these options is that most of them are very budget friendly. If you want to find art, history, good food, handmade souvenirs , and aesthetic spots for a photoshoot, you can head to “El casco viejo”. Just 5 kilometers away from Panama city, in el Casco Viejo, you can find all of this and so much more!

Our team went to El Casco Viejo on a Sunday afternoon, with the objective of finding out about the things you can do without spending a penny. Our tour looked something like this: First we went to the Panama History Museum, where we were met at the entrance with a beautiful white statue by Italian artist Erico Biaga. We then submerged on a patriotic and historical experience like no other, learning about the history of Panama.

After that, we walked through el paseo Esteban Huertas, which is an iconic isle by the sea, with a flowery rooftop were panamanian artists and artisans showcase their art for sale. We then finished our Sunday stroll by “Las Bóvedas” which currently houses the office of El Casco antiguo the National Institute of Culture , an art gallery and a French restaurant. If you want to spend a relaxed afternoon by the sea and learn a little bit more about Panamanian history and culture, El casco viejo is the place to go!
